Helping Farms Thrive

Small Farms, Big Improvements

If you’ve had a red or green chili lately, there’s a decent chance it came from India. If it did, it may have even come from Rajesh Kumar Singh or a farmer like him.
“Pappu,” as he’s known to friends, lives and works in Uttar Pradesh, the populous northern India state perhaps most famously known as the home of the Taj Mahal. Singh works in his fields sunrise to sundown, taking care of his green chili plants.
Pappu Singh grows green chilli on almost two hectares of land.
Bayer experts told him about efficient farming methods and supplied him with the newest crop protection products.
Thanks to the Initiative's help, Singh doubled his yield and tripled his profitability in 2017.

Singh is one of the many smallholders in India. They keep the Indian and global food supply steady – not only with chili, but a variety of crops.

Get to know a Rajesh a little better and what life is like as a smallholder farmer over on the Bayer site.
